So I watched the other people direct in class today for the first time. In many ways it was reassuring. No one was way ahead of me. Everyone is at different phases and is going about the process a little differently. The in-class work wasn't as intimidating as I thought it would be. It was discouraging in that shit got real and I realized that I can't just sit around and dream and theorize and sketch and blog all day forever. I actually have to make it happen. I mean.. I knew this before today, but today just made me have a little panic attack. It's good, though. It gets me motivated to make strong choices and go with them. I know I still have time to play, but it is getting time to go in for the kill on this one. I goin for the jugular and there ain't no stopping me.
Oh yea! And I have to work on my monologue.. I don't know about that one. I'm more nervous about presenting my monologue than I am my directing work. I know that my acting isn't the focus, but come on! It's hard for me to be really believe that I know that. My actor ego is getting in the way, and it needs to stop.
This is the phase I'm at in my directing. Does that make sense? Oh yes. I think that's very clear.
Keep on Keepin On,
Whitty
PS. If you type "vampires" into google images you get a lot of weird sexual goth images.
