Tuesday

I'm feeling spicy.

I really love directing. I love the creativity required. I love that it forces me to be responsible. I am a little frustrated right now with the fact that I have to act a monologue, as well. It is a bit overwhelming and, honestly, I prefer directing to acting so everytime I work on my monologue I wish I was directing instead. But other than that, I am enjoying the whole process. I feel like I have a brain full of ideas and directing gives me the outlet to use that little noggin of mine. Plus, I get so energized when I'm directing. I love helping my actor through his process, and I love the ideas I get from watching my actor work. Directing, for me, at this time, while I'm still a student and a moron, is a very in-the-moment process. While yes, of course, I do my research and the "homework" business, when I get to rehearsal it's time to play and create! My background in acting is IMMENSELY beneficial, as well. With these pieces, which have a lot less going on than a full length play with a huge set and a ton of props and a bunch of those actor people (talk about a parenthetical! and here is another!) I get to focus more on the actor. This helps me realize how I function as a director before I get overwhelmed with all that other bullshit.

I don't think it's bullshit! I'm kidding! WHY AM I SO OFFENSIVE ALL THE TIME!?

Oh well. I'm the director. I do what I want.

MWAHAHA POWER!

Kidding again.

I should quit.

Bye

I feel like this woman when I direct.
