I like setting very realistic goals with my blogs.
I just wanted to let my many many many readers (aka my professor) know what I'm doing with this blog.
My first topic of discussion is CONTROL.
First of all, I have only directed once in my life. It was in high school. I mean... I was amazing, but in reality, I wasn't amazing. As a director, I wanted all my actors to be perfect all the time. Is that too much? Not at all.
I need to let other people do there jobs without becoming a complete bitch. In life, I am messy and unorganized. My room is a heinous mess of clothes and cat toys (I sound like a freak), but in my work and education, I am a perfectionist. So, my first real goal of this class is to become comfortable with trusting others to do their jobs and becoming the great compromiser.
I also want to say that I am very very excited about this class (for now). I know that it will be a shit-ton of work, but I think I am going to love directing. This last semester of college, I am just very open to learning as much as possible, and I am not going to allow stress to fuck with that. I believe (even though I really don't know anything yet) that a good director must be able see the big picture and not allow stress to distract them from this greater goal: telling a story.
Bring it on, theatre.

Henry Clay "The Great Compromiser"
(I just learned some American History so that I could find an image that represents my desire to compromise. I'm already smarter. Thanks, Kate)
